Our client designs, manufactures and sells a range of equipment for the production of bread, biscuit, snack and cereal products worldwide. A leading player in its market sector they are now seeking a Sales Manager to be responsible for the sale of biscuit making equipment throughout Europe.

Purpose of the role

Reporting to the Business Unit Director you will identify opportunities and negotiate sales for the biscuit product range and support the development of the global biscuit strategy.

Responsibilities

  • To establish and develop sustainable customer relationships at all organisational levels in a professional manner.
  • To maintain regular direct contact with the biscuit customer base.
  • To ensure awareness of the biscuit products and services to both existing and potential customers.
  • To support the preparation of proposals and then to negotiate and secure orders and contracts that are profitable, commercially secure and technically sound.
  • To identify and develop Customer Services’ business opportunities with existing and new biscuit customers.
  • To identify and report market requirements to the business to support the biscuit business and R&D strategies.
  • To provide market information and competitor activity to support the development of our position in the biscuit industry.
  • To prepare and maintain sales reports, forecasts and contact information on a regular basis and in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Proven export sales experience.
  • Fluency in a second language, preferably European, would be beneficial.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, at all levels within the customers’ operations as well as internally.
  • Confidence, skill and presence to successfully negotiate contract price and conditions.
  • Excellent networking skills to build the companies profile in the global biscuit industry.
  • Ability to think strategically to support the development of the global biscuit strategy.
  • Ability to communicate and liaise appropriately, given some accounts are globally based, i.e. have sister operations outside the nominated territory.
  • Willing and able to spend a minimum of 40% of your time abroad.
  • Ideally a degree or HNC/HND or equivalent in an Engineering subject.
  • Ability to develop and exploit a detailed understanding/knowledge of the biscuit product range, process knowledge and market place.
