Sales Manager – Processing Machinery, based Dubai
The company
A global supplier of secondary food processing and packaging machinery for use in meat, poultry, fish, cheese and other food sectors, headquartered in Netherlands with some 2000 employees worldwide.
The Middle East, Africa & India region generates revenue of c€26m with 20 employees inc engineering, sales, service and support from 3 offices Dubai, Riyadh and RSA – Gauteng. Core business in the region is turnkey processing line solutions into meat & poultry sectors, contract values c€1-3m.
What did they need?
The existing Sales Manager was relocating back to Netherlands having spent 6 years based in Dubai.
The brief was to identify a candidate with a successful track record in the sale of high value (€1-3m contracts) processing line solutions to end users within the meat industry.
The position would be based in Dubai with extensive travel so experience of the region’s cultural and economic factors would be a distinct advantage.
As the existing candidate was moving within the group and had started the process it was important to secure the right candidate quickly.
What could FRL offer?
The role was to report to the Gen Mgr Middle East, Africa and India, a candidate we had placed into his role 16 months previously.
We understood the candidate profile required, the company culture, the key players in Europe/UAE and the reporting managers background and expectations.
Our extensive international network of candidates and in depth knowledge of the main suppliers of food processing/packaging lines allowed us to quickly identify the appropriate skills and experience.
The Result
Our Europe/UAE wide search identified a number of candidates but 1 was by far the favourite. Based in the UK with a track record selling turnkey lines to meat and poultry processors he had previously spent 7 years based in UAE working with a food processing company. The role offered him a fantastic challenge with real possibilities for future career progression and the opportunity to relocate the family was enthusiastically received.
