Regional Sales Manager – Packaging Materials, based Denmark
The Company
A major manufacturer of packaging materials with multiple European manufacturing and sales sites supplying food, medical, Pharma and healthcare sectors.
What did they need?
The existing incumbent had resigned his role after 10 years to pursue a career outside of the industry. With a 3 month notice period to complete the aim was to have a new candidate in place within this time frame to allow a handover of knowledge.
It was agreed that Fidelis would identify a shortlist of potential candidates who would all have a proven track record of success in the sales of packaging materials and up to date knowledge of the Danish/European food and non-food sectors.
What could FRL offer?
Having previously recruited the Scandinavian Sales Manager, Fidelis had an in depth understanding of the packaging sector in the region and the potential talent pool available.
The proposed strategy was a targeted search campaign:
- Identify the companies supplying packaging materials into Denmark
- Map out the sales teams within these companies
- Make a direct and discreet to the most appropriate candidates to assess interest and relevance to the role.
The Result
From the original shortlist of 4 candidates that were presented 4 weeks from the start of the campaign, 2 were called back for final interview and an offer was made to the favoured candidate. After 5 days of discussions the candidate declined the offer and decided to stay with his current employer.
The decision was made to start the process again and Fidelis committed to deliver a revised shortlist of candidates within 3 weeks. This resulted in 3 excellent candidates, interviews were arranged, an offer was made and the chosen candidate quickly accepted, resigned his current post and completed his 2 month notice period.
Although protracted the assignment provided us with detailed competitor analysis – salary comparison in the region, size and demographic of sales teams, market specialisms and possible future talent. It also gave us a greater understanding of how our client was perceived in the region.
The early signs are very positive and both candidate and company are delighted with the outcome.
